Thinking Of Becoming A Personal Life Coach?

Life coaching is the task of assisting a client to achieve future goals or ambitions they have set for themselves. Life coaching disciplines were developed from a multitude of techniques based in many different areas of schooling from career, psychological or life oriented fields, some of which include, but are not limited to, sociology, life development, career counselling, and mentoring. Studying behavioural modification can also be a very helpful method of assisting clientele as well.

A successful Life Coach assists their subject in developing attainable life or career goals by applying value assessments techniques and helping the subject develop a strategy to reach these set goals successfully. To help you determine what goals you most desire, and help you to prioritize these goals, a Life Coach will begin by asking you specific questions geared towards honing in on which goals are most important to you and which ones you may be most successful at fulfilling.

These same questions will also help the Life Coach assess other ideals as well, such as what activities are most draining on your energy levels, which take up the most time in your day to day life, and which goals may require the most amount of life adjustment to accomplish. This will assist the Life Coach in establishing the hierarchy for your goals, and creating the life regime in which you will find the most success by diverting energy from some areas of your life in which you may over compensate, to areas which could use more attention and in which you may feel a greater sense of fulfillment.

For example, if you feel you would like to spend more time with your children, your Life Coach will assess other areas of your life, such as time spent on your career, or personal time, and work with you to draw time and energy from different areas of your life and create a plan in which this time can best be applied to maximize your time with your children. Or, on the reverse spectrum, if you are developing a business from home, and would like figure out how to make more time to focus on creating and establishing your business, but you feel your family responsibilities require the majority of your time, then a Life Coach can be a useful tool in determining how to successfully divert time from your family to focus on your new business, while maintaining a level of satisfaction (or even increasing your level of satisfaction) in both areas.

A good Life Coach knows that such a strategy requires considering the persons’ over all lifestyle, living habits, and personal needs. A successful strategy must be tailored to meet each individuals’ needs in order to ensure the client reaches their goals. Each increment of success is a key factor in maintaining a client’s confidence in themselves and what they are trying to achieve. They must believe that what they are trying to obtain is both worth while and and attainable; a good personal life coach will not only be able to instil these beliefs in their client, but also encourage them through their journey.

Although there is no regulatory standard required regarding schooling or training for becoming a life coach, many schools now offer different training programs or certifications that would assist in building a successful and marketable career in Life Coaching. In addition to the suggested afore mentioned schooling certifications available [sociology, life development, career counselling, and mentoring], other useful certifications for an individual considering the field of Life Coaching may also include psychology, positive adult development, and management consulting.
